WLAN Network configuration

WLAN Network Configuration in Practice

A wireless LAN controller can be used to completely automatically configure access points on the wireless network and even at other locations. In this way, uniform security standards can be guaranteed within the entire company across locations and monitored 24 hours per day. The application of the Smart Controller principle offers unique operational reliability: Only the WLAN administration data is passed on centrally to the controller. User data is broken-out directly from the access points to the local network. In this way, the controller does not become a bottleneck and single point of failure for the entire wireless network.
When configuring the access points, a setting determines whether the controller is to perform management centrally or whether the access point is to operate in standalone mode. There is no need for special hardware and firmware variants.

Heterogeneous WLAN Network Configurations

In most cases, WLAN environments contain a mixture of clients which support different WLAN standards in the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequency bands, and these must all be supported simultaneously. Dual-radio access points are frequently used in such environments. Both WLAN radios can be configured individually by the controller.
